An African Safari Lodge (also known as game lodge) is a distinctive tourist type of accommodation. Mainly are used by a tourist on Tanzania wildlife safaris and are located in or close to national parks or game reserves. Lodges are customarily in remote rural areas and offer meals and activities such as game drives in addition to accommodation, however, most of the meals provided tend to be western dishes. The standard of accommodation varies from rustic bush camps, sometimes tented, to luxury accommodation(lodges and camps), and ranges to the character of high end branded hotels. Like hotels in lodges, you find lobby and kitchen separated building with the bedroom and private washroom. Safari lodges are more comfortable and well protected with a guarantee of safety to tourists. In this type of accommodation, you are guaranteed running water, hot shower options while others with swimming pools, splendid locations, and enchanting views.
In the Tanzania Northern Circuit, there are more than 100 safari lodges excluding tented camps. One could have varieties in choice depending on taste, preference, and budget. Some are located in Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, near Lake Manyara National Park, Karatu town, Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park while plenty of them in Arusha town. Staying in one or all of them does not guarantee you a taste of Tanzanian food. When you have time do a local lunch at a local restaurant to get a taste of Tanzania food.
