How to get there - If you arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, we will meet you at the airport to transfer you to your hotel in Arusha, or to proceed directly onto your safari. If you arrive in Tanzania and depart from Nairobi, Kenya, we can arrange a transfer by shuttle bus at the end of your stay in Tanzania. We can also advise you about how to arrange flights between Zanzibar, Nairobi and Mombasa. We are happy to facilitate local transfers.

Your Tanzania safari - "Safari" in Kiswahili, the primary language in of East Africa, simple means: a Journey. Today safari is synonymous with wildlife adventure in the African bush. If your primary reason for travelling to Africa is to experience an abundance of African wildlife in unspoiled wilderness, then Tanzania should be your destination of choice. Tanzania protects over 225% of its land through national parks and reserves, more than any country on the continent. The parks and wildlife reserves of Tanzania are inhabited by vast herds of wildebeest spread out across the Serengeti savannah huge populations of elephant and buffalo, as well as plains game and their predators -- lions cheetah and leopards. These animals roam freely as they have done for thousands of years.
While on safari, you will witness an incredible diversity of ecology and will doubtless find the vegetation and birdlife as fascinating as the big game. Not only is Tanzania home to 90% of film series produced on African animals, but the country also boasts a remarkable number of World Heritage sites, including Serengeti National Park, Kilimanjaro National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Selous Game Reserve, Kilwa Kisiwani, the Songo Mnara Ruins and Mafia Marine Park, and recently, Bagamoyo.
What you may see in Tanzania - Tanzania is home to over 35 species of large four-legged mammals and has over 1,113 species of birds recorded. On a safari in northern Tanzania, you can expect to see elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, baboon, monkeys, and a variety of games such as wildebeest, hartebeest, zebra, impala and gazelle. It is also very common to see lion and hyena in its natural surroundings, as well as the elusive cheetah and leopard. In the world-renowned Ngorongoro Crater, you may be lucky to spot of the few remaining black rhinos to be found in Tanzania. Your driver-guide will also be on the lookout for the lesser-known species such as the mongoose, Hyrax, foxes, wild dog or more reticent antelope like the lesser kudu, bushbuck, Oryx or eland.
People of Tanzania - The vast majority of Tanzanians are still living very close to their traditional lifestyles. Most of the people are subsistence farmers. The Maasai people, favoured by photographers for their strikingly colourful décor, live a pastoral existence following their herds of cattle to better grazing areas, still adhering to the traditions and ceremonies of their ancestors. Their "villages" are located throughout northern Tanzania. Other small tribes of hunter-gathers, living according to their ancient customs and traditions, can also be found in this area.

Tanzania Weather - Located at an altitude of 5,000 to 7,600 feet, northern Tanzania's dry, sunny climate is nothing like the steamy African jungle of the Tarzan movies. The weather is springlike year-round, with daytime temperature in the 70's and 80's F (21 and 26 degrees Celsius) and in the 60's F (about 15 - 20 degrees Celsius) during the evening. Temperatures are slightly cooler and range from the '50s to mid-70's F (10 to 25 degrees Celsius), from June until August. Tanzania generally experiences short rains in November to Mid-December and the long rains between March and May, but the season can vary. The coastal strip is hot and humid all year round, while temperatures on Mounts Kilimanjaro and Meru drop to below freezing.
