The morning starts with a personal introduction to your trekking team. There’s less walking on the second day of your trek. You’ll start by ascending a fairly steep ridge to a site termed Picnic Rock, comprising a small and semi-circular cliff, the heath landscape soon opens up before you and the paths become rockier. Your route takes you over the Shira Plateau, from where you can see Kilimanjaro’s Western Breach. After a short lunch brake, we continue up a rocky ridge onto the Shira plateau and Shira hut at the base of a semi-circular wall of rocks.

DAY 4 - SHIRA CAMP TO BARRANCO VALLEY (FULL BOARD)

Traversing from the South western side of Kilimanjaro and passing below the Lava Tower all the way to the final section of the western breach till reaching the Barranco Camp while experiencing the moorland that changes the character of the trek. As you continue your ascent, you can enjoy magnificent views of both Kibo and Mt. Meru, poking up above the white clouds behind you. After lunch we descent again by almost 680m to the Barranco camping area, situated in a valley below the Breach and Great Barranco Wall. Its 6 to 7 hours walking and the total ascent is only 110m total but having climbed much higher and dropped back down assists acclimatization.

DAY 5 - BARRANCO CAMP TO BARAFU CAMP (FULL BOARD)

After a night at the foot of the impressive Great Barranco Wall and a solid breakfast, the time has come to climb the notorious cliff. Fortunately, it is easier than it looks … From the top, beneath Heim Glacier that hangs like a set of ice curtains across the cliff face, the full beauty of Kilimanjaro spreads out in all its glory. We climb on a tough steep trail, but once we reach the top, we will enjoy spectacular panoramic views. We will spent the night and a delicious meal at Barafu Camp.

DAY 6 - BARAFU CAMP TO SUMMIT TO MWEKA CAMP (FULL BOARD)

Starting your steep walk to the summit at midnight to avoid the sun while climbing up for about 5 to 6 hours. We will avoid the mist that sets in later in the day; the snow will still be safely frozen. The 1,100-meter ascent in just over 3 km will take us about 6-8 hours. Here is where you will have the most beautiful views around the Stella Point on the Crater rim which is about 5745 M and getting to be embraced by the first rays from the sun. Most people consider the difficult terrain you have to traverse on the 6-hour hike to Stella Point the biggest challenge of the entire trip. The aim is to reach Stella Point shortly after sunrise so that you can admire the sight of the blood-red sun rising gently above the horizon. After the summit we walk to Barafu Camp for a short rest thereafter continue to the Mweka Camp where you will have dinner and overnight.
