Tour Description (Day 2 Day Activities)

DAY 1 – ARRIVAL DAY

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and after customs and immigration formalities, you will be met by your guide who will transfer you to Arusha City. Arusha is your gateway to the safari adventures that can be found on the famed northern circuit. The city is the capital of the East Africa Community and also houses the East Africa Court of Justice. Mount Meru is Tanzania’s second-highest peak and many travelers use it as a warm-up for scaling the mighty Kilimanjaro. Others, however, are happy to admire it from afar. If you fall into the latter category, you’ll be pleased to hear this dormant volcano provides a spectacular backdrop to Arusha. Anyone averse to exercise can also take a trip to its lower slopes and enjoy a far less strenuous camel safari or bathe beneath the waterfalls of Arusha National Park. Overnight at The African Tulip Hotel.

DAY 2 – DAY TRIP TO MOSHI

After breakfast, drive to Moshi for a hike in Materuni; a village nestled at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro waiting for you to explore. Materuni is one of the few villages of wonder in Northern Tanzania sitting at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro. The village is blessed with full of all the beauty worth visiting for holiday, weekend outing, or vacation. While in the village, the scenic view of Moshi Town and Mount Kilimanjaro is astonishing. This green village with fresh air from green vegetation welcomes visitors to explore the beauty of the land and the cultural heritage of the Chagga people.

DAY 3 – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, drive west of Arusha with splendid views of the Great Rift Valley wall arriving in time for a hot lunch. The Park is known as a wonderful birding destination and also features large numbers of games, particularly during the dry season, when the Tarangire River is the only source of water in the area. The landscape is of particular interest too, due to the high number of scenic baobab trees. Tarangire National Park covers an undulating area of 2,600km2, between the plains of the Maasai Steppe to the south-east, and the lakes of the Great Rift Valley to the north and west. The northern part of Tarangire is dominated by the perennial Tarangire River, which flows through increasingly incised ravines until it leaves the north-western corner of the park to flow into Lake Burungi. Dinner and overnight at Maramboi Tented Camp or similar camp. Full board basis.

DAY 4 – LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK.

After breakfast drive to the nearby Lake Manyara National Park where you will encounter large troupes of baboons. The Park boasts a spectacular array of diverse terrain as well as plant and animal species. Established specifically to protect the elephant herds that have made the area renowned, the park provides an amazing wildlife experience. Elephants are not the only animals that Lake Manyara is famous for. Lake Manyara is a shallow alkaline lake at an altitude of 960 m (3,150 Ft.), formed in a depression in the Rift Valley System. In extreme dry periods, the surface area of the lake shrinks as the waters evaporate and at times the lake has dried up completely. You will have a cultural tour and a hot lunch with a local family in the town of Mto wa mbu village. In the late afternoon continue a short drive to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Dinner and overnight at Farm of Dreams Lodge.

DAY 5 – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

Breakfast. Morning drive through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and on to Serengeti National Park with game viewing drive en-route. Serengeti National Park offers unparalleled wildlife viewing in a vast and un-spoilt environment with endless plains that stretch for hundreds of miles boasting huge herds of African wildlife. The Serengeti encompasses Serengeti National Park and several protected game reserves and conservation areas maintained by the governments of Tanzania. A parked lunch served at a picnic site Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Heritage Camp or similar camp. Full board basis.

DAY 6 – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK

You will spend the whole day exploring the vast Serengeti National Park and its endless plains. The region hosts the largest mammal migration in the world and is a popular destination for African safaris. It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge, or crocodile infested river can hold them back. Serengeti is truly home to the legendary Great Wildebeest Migration. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Heritage Camp or similar camp. Full board basis.

DAY 7 – NGORONGORO CRATER

After breakfast, drive to Ngorongoro and descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive (with picnic lunch) inside the Ngorongoro Crater, often described as one of the wonders of the world. It is the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a natural sanctuary for some of Africa’s densest animal populations. It is one of the few places where the rare black rhino can be observed in their natural setting. As very few animals migrate in and out of the crater with its 2000 ft. High walls, you can expect to see lions, elephants, zebras, hippos, flamingos, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, many birds, and other species. It is one of the world’s most astonishing and among the 8th wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The black rhino can easily be sighted in the crater. Think of another place in the world where you can see such a unique setting with diverse scenery, prolific wildlife and birdlife, and an ecosystem like no other.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area covers mountain forests, woodlands, grasslands, lakes, swamps, and two major rivers. Not to mention Ngorongoro Crater, Oldupai Gorge, and Laetoli. . Late in the afternoon, ascend and drive to your lodge in Karatu Area. Dinner and overnight at Farm House Valley or similar lodge. Full board basis.

DAY 8 – DEPARTURE

After a leisurely breakfast, drive back to Arusha. Hot lunch at a restaurant in town. Enjoy a short city tour (this is optional) before proceeding to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.
